We use fabrics in all areas of our lives, we choose clothes made of different fabrics and threads, as casual work clothes or while playing sports or sleeping. In the past, only textiles produced with natural yarns were used, but with technological developments, artificial and synthetic yarns took their place in our lives. If you pay attention to the label of your clothing, you can find out what percentage of cotton, polyester, etc. materials are used in its production. So which fabrics can we distinguish as artificial and natural/healthy?
Synthetic (artificial) Fabrics:
Polyester:
As we all know, polyester, one of the most used fabric types, is produced from synthetic polymer and is a petro-chemical product. Since polyester fabric is mixed with fibers such as wool, linen and cotton, its usage area is high and when used in our clothes, it prevents the body from breathing, so it can sweat.
Acrylic Fabrics: The raw material of acrylic is petroleum, and frequent contact
with the skin should be avoided. Allergic reactions are possible with 100% acrylic
clothing.
Viscose Fabrics: It is popularly known as rayon produced with fibers obtained from wood pulp transformed with harmful carbon disulfide. Since viscose fabrics are produced with harmful chemicals such as caustic, soda, ammonia, and sulfuric acid, it should not be preferred.
Natural Fabrics:
Cotton Fabric: It can be used in all seasons and has the feature of absorbing moisture, it is a non-allergic and non-damaging fabric.
Linen Fabric: It is strong, shiny, non-allergenic and has high water retention. It is true that it should be preferred with its non-sweaty and comfortable air-permeable structure in summer.
Hemp Fabric: It is one of the healthiest fibers and provides comfort to the person thanks to its antibacterial, high moisture absorption feature, it is a healthy and featured fabric that does not create pilling and also provides protection against UV rays.
Cashmere Fabric: It is a type of goat wool with a very fine, velvety-feeling texture. It is used in winter because of its warm and comfortable half.
Wool Fabric: It is a soft, flexible and water-repellent fabric. It is preferred in winter because of its comfort and warmth.
